How does it work?
Click the controls icon in the upper-left hand corner to access the Instruments menu. Here you can choose your instrument, tuning, and number of frets.
The formulas panel below the fretboard is where you can choose a key and browse chord/scale formulas. After selecting a key and formula combo, watch the fretboard light up with the corresponding notes.
Infretible is not designed to show specific playing positions for a chord or scale, but rather it is meant to show you all the possibilities for playing it across the entire fretboard.
Use the “Chords/Scales” buttons to toggle between chords and scales. There is a secondary menu for chords that you can use to filter the formulas by chord category.
With a key and formula selected, you will find the formula details above the fretboard. Here you will see what notes comprise the selected formula. Click the icon next to the formula title to see more information. Use the arrows on either side of the formula notes to shift the selected key.
With a formula and key selected, use the “Add Preset” button to add your selection as a preset button beneath the fretboard. Click on the preset for easy access to the keyed formula. Click the minus button next to the preset to remove it from your presets.
Use the “Clear Formula” button to clear the currently selected formula from the fretboard. This does not remove the formula from your presets.
Click any note on the fretboard to highlight it. You can do this to simply make notes, or with at least three manual selections you can use the “What chord is this?” button.
With three or more notes selected on the fretboard, click the “What chord is this?” button and Infretible will tell you what chord or scale your selections comprise.
Use the “Clear manual selections” button to remove any manual selections from the fretboard.
